The CEO of Tomoye is explaining his take on informal learning in a session here at the Innovations in Learning Conference. About 400 of us have convened in Santa Clara for the first Brandon Hall conference.
The slide on screen is a webpage with sample postings and comments. Since it’s a dummy slide, the text reads:
Lorem ipsum dolor amet, consectetuer adpiscing eit. Ut us ligla. Vestibulum…
Question from the audience: “Why is all this is Latin?”
I’ve been taking video and snapshots all morning. This will become content for my closing keynote tomorrow afternoon. I will attempt go orchestrate a sound & light show about the meaning of this event.
This should be interesting since I’ve probably bitten off a lot more than I can chew. Regular readers of this blog may know that I bought a MacBook Pro last Friday. Apple may be “simple” but iPhoto and iMovie and Keynote are sufficiently different from PaintShop, Premiere, and PowerPoint that I spend half my time on the machine trying to find things.
I’ll post the presentation online when it’s in the can. Talking with someone last night at the opening reception, I suggested that my presentation may resemble an experimental European film. Surreal, confusing, unsettling: I can do that. Check back to see….

There’s no bookstore here, but I do happen to have a dozen copies of my book on Informal Learning in the trunk of my car. If you’re here somewhere, you can buy an autographed copy for a bargain price of $30. If you’d like one, send me an email; I’ll cart your book to my presentation tomorrow. Hello, Jay:
Very nice blog. I discovered your site when doing research on web 2.0 eLearning. I saw you were going to post presentations online. I’m wondering if you want to try out http://myplick.com which is an online presentation sharing site. It also supports synchronizing voice with slides so you can put the entire presentation here for your readers. (it hosts audio and slide files for you)
