Today we had a wonderful family outing at the Western Railway Museum in Suisun City, about 30 miles northeast of Berkeley. A group of volunteers have restored dozens of streetcars and interurbans, and maintain 22 miles of their own track. We rode in the 1904 beauty to the right. Austin got to exercise his new Nikon D50 capturing the rolling stock.
Our conductor said the journey through the farmland relieved all stress. That’s not hard to believe. If only America hadn’t ripped up the tracks and abandoned most rail travel in favor of freeways.
